Looks like you're well on your way. Just tonight, I picked up an entire side from Tandy at about $120 for 30 sq ft. It was a steal; I couldn't pass it up. I'm watching your progress, and I'll be starting on a new belt soon. I'd love to compare results!

Thanks flyrod. I'm waiting on one or two more things before I go at it (larger punch set and a a strap cutter). I also found another source for 3" buckles, so want to order a few. I have some wiring and painting to do this weekend, but I do hope to at least get one good straight edge on my hide this weekend. I need at least one belt by next Saturday (the 3rd). I'll be posting pics as I go.

    Good luck with yours!

Guys, If you spot any 3 inch brass or nickle centerbar buckles like this please let me know. I have a completed belt awaiting.

I prefer the rounded outside corners to reduce getting "the points" when I bend over and the totally square inside really reduces wear and folding on the belt itself. This one is 2.5 inch and I want to keep the proportions ( HxW) the same. Have been looking for 3 inch like this for close to a year.
The only kilts, both traditional and modern, that I don't wear these belts and buckles with are the ones I haven't bought...
    yet
    thanks for the ideas.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

This is a 3" belt and the 1st belt I have made. Just got to this point this afternoon. It was definitely a learning experience, and fun too. Now, brown or black?

Looks great frank, color to match the sporran (s) you have or the shoes you usually wear kilted.

I keep my keys on a carabiner and clip them on the belt keeper.
