Guys, If you spot any 3 inch brass or nickle centerbar buckles like this please let me know. I have a completed belt awaiting.

I prefer the rounded outside corners to reduce getting "the points" when I bend over and the totally square inside really reduces wear and folding on the belt itself. This one is 2.5 inch and I want to keep the proportions ( HxW) the same. Have been looking for 3 inch like this for close to a year.
The only kilts, both traditional and modern, that I don't wear these belts and buckles with are the ones I haven't bought...
yet
thanks for the ideas.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

This is a 3" belt and the 1st belt I have made. Just got to this point this afternoon. It was definitely a learning experience, and fun too. Now, brown or black?

Looks great frank, color to match the sporran (s) you have or the shoes you usually wear kilted.
I keep my keys on a carabiner and clip them on the belt keeper.

Thanks Chuck. Black it will be. Will match my one sporran, and the new black wingtips I bought for it.
Now to make a sporran belt!

Frank, I just use sporran hangers and froggs since I have a strong belt. One less strap to fool with getting dressed and undressed. I find I like the shorter froggs better. The sporrans ride above the tender parts.

I do wear kilts every day. I put on the kilt belt, hangers, keeper and keys for the whole day. Then clip on my Nightwatch sporran full of dog cookies and stuff to walk the dog. The USAK Rob Roy has my wallet and change for going ( to spend money ) somewhere. Sporran off and on is about 5 seconds either way.
You have and use the same hardwear for hangers or strap. The hangers can be cut from the smaller parts of the leather what would go to waste.
Your belt loops will thank you - the chains are real rough on the belt/sporran loops and the straps less so. Especially if you carry heavy sporran.
I have been real impressed at how well these wide belts stay in place in front, even when the nearest belt loops are off the aprons and behind my hip points as some of my traditionals are.

I could make those too Chuck, got plenty of leather, but for right now all 8-9 oz stuff. Would need to find those swivel ends with a snap. Going to make a variety of belts out of this hide I got. More pics as I get more time, likely a week or so down the road. Got a big family party here a week from today, and what I really needed to complete my kilt outfit was the belt.
I plan on getting some lighter oz leather soon. Next leather project is a sporran.

I should add that I get "the rub" from the sporrans because I wear the kilt waist down at my jeans waist for medical reasons. Would be a non issue at the normal kilt waist height. I tend to forget this little fact at times - it's normal for me.

I cut out 4 more blanks this morning, two more 3", and two for my acrylic kilt at 2 1/4". Got to do what I can before the little woman gets up and my day will be filled with "honey does".
Then it's on to some new dress belts for my day job.
