    Zito the Bubbleman

Pipers and other musicians who wish to commemorate last night’s baseball game may consider playing Zito the Bubbleman. I have been told it pairs nicely with The Panda.

Nice tie-in of pipes and baseball! Found this on a quick search.

I play both tunes, (a hornpipe and a jig, both by the late Gordon Duncan), but what's the tie in with baseball?

On Wednesday In game one of the World Series Barry Zito pitched a solid game, giving up 1 run in 5 2/3 innings, to help the San Francisco Giants win by a score of 8 runs to 3. Six years ago Zito was signed to a 126 Million dollar contract and has been underperforming ever since. He pitched so poorly in 2010 he was left off of the roster for the 2010 postseason and the Giants won the World Series without him. Zito has pitched better this year and on Wednesday Zito’s legacy was “on the bubble” as we say here, finely balance between success and failure. A win in the biggest game of his career with the Giants could erase, or at least ease, years of disappointment for both him and the fans. The series is not over yet but Zito is off of the bubble and well on his way to redemption.

The other half of the story involves Pablo Sandoval (aka Kung Fu Panda) who hit three home runs in the World Series game on Wednesday. This feat has only been performed by three other US baseball players, Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, and Albert Pujols. Pablo is a very likable young man who struggles with his weight and was also a non-factor in the 2010 World Series win by the Giants. His success on Wednesday falls into the “it couldn’t happen to nicer guy” category.

Aha, all clear, thank for the explanation. They used to show American baseball on Channel 4 over here, but stopped due to the costs. Shame, because I used to enjoy watching it and was just beginning to get an understanding of, and appreciation for, the game.

Well it's not over 'till it's over, as the Giants well know. Maybe you can borrow a rally monkey from OC Richard (if my wife knew I typed this I would be sleeping in the dog house which would be tough since we don't have a dog.)
