Once again I'm in full agreement with Woodsheal. Your waistbelt will be hidden, so there is no reason to have a fancy buckle or belt. Use the fancy buckle for your sword baldric.

How wide is the opening on that cool buckle? If it's at least 2 1/2", that's wide enough for a baldric strap...

On the belts I've made, and looking at factory made stuff, I try and keep the strap width as wide as possible for the buckle, so like a smidgeon smaller.

i know this is an older thread. but i was wondering what was the more common metal used on highland buckle from this time to even the 15-16th c? would it be brass or iron, or bronze?
