    I think, Tobus is quite right. It all comes down to body shape. If a man has a fuller figure and has anything of what used to be called a 'corporation' then the third strap does not do him or the kilt any favours. Just too many forces at work there.

    Whereas the slimmer individual can reap the benefits.

    I have to stock-sized PVs with the standard 3 straps, and two custom built wool kilts that I had made with 2 straps each.

    I infinitely prefer 2 straps and am planning, when I have a free moment, to remove the 3rd strap from each of the PV kilts.

    My preference is two straps. Never have had a kilt with more than 2 straps.
