Its just me, but I sure do prefer the belt loop type thingie on the back to slide the sporran strap through, rather than any connectors that seem to complicate things and be a pain....or at least include the belt loop option with the connectors as an option. And hoping for a matching color sporran strap option that is just a "belt" and a "buckle" without the clip thingies... Know may not be able to have that. Would be nice though.

Steve: Looking forward to finally being able to purchase this. Can you show us the back side? Curious about the attaching points or whether a dee is used. Have abandoned using the dees on my Stillwater sporrans because the D-ring rotates and have replaced them with simple loops of 550 cord.

I have seen the prototype and it's a fine piece of work. My only comment is that it needs to have a bag-magnet closure rather than snap -- but that's it! The leather is supple, the grain is good, the pattern nicely embossed and the capacity prodigious (designed by an engineer, so that's to be expected). When orders are finally being taken I think mine will be a very plain, no tassle, no embossing workhorse, a replacement for that old, worn MoD one I like so much (*shudder*, but I won't forget you old friend, I promise.)

Please...NO MAGNETS....folks are a fool to get their credit cards around magnets....just not a good idea to have magnets around where our wallets and credit cards will be.

Folks, I'm going to try and answer some of your questions but please remember that this is still an on-going project. The production models will not be completed for a week. I will not have seen an actual production model myself until one arrives here at the shop.
This photo is for Riverkilt -

This one is for Walkerk -

This back is from a standard L & M Sporran and not the prototype. The back of the production Carry-All sporrans will be a bit larger and have the Freedom Kilts Logo.
Notice the no. 2 pencil in the shot. I too abandonment the plastic and nylon webbing "D"'s that came with my two Nightstalker.
I use metal D-Rings mounting in a leather tab just as you see in the photo. The D-rings are removable leaving a slot for a regular strap or if your strap has clips fix them directly to the D-tab.
KenB - I mentioned in my first post that price point was still not finalized. This is due to shipping and some other incedentals. The lower priced sporrans in the line will be in $60.00-$65.00 range and the Carry-All in this model in the $135.00-$140.00 range. A Semi-Dress version with fur and tassels on chains would be about $150.00.
Please do not hold me to these prices. They are the best estimates we have right now. This is the price point range I gave L&M at the start of this project. They have assured me that they can make this sporran within my boundaries.
For thistledown - Rex, the snap closure I do not like either. I can't release yet the details of the closure the production versions will have but I am pretty sure you will like it.
I too like the magnetic catch of my Buzz Kidder sporrans, but often find myself fiddling with the alignment to get them to hold.
The closure we are going to use as 'standard' will be something completely different. I can ask for yours with a magnet if you want though.
I called Grant a L&M this morning to tell him my jones got the better of me and had posted this thread. I wanted he and his people to have a way of gauging the reception this design would get. Grant is a member here and I suppose he has had a peek.
L&M really went out on a limb with my crazy idea. A traditional looking sporran that will actually carry stuff, and made domestically for a reasonable cost. I'm sure that back in March when I pitched this to him that Grant thought I was dreaming. I know he did not believe that a bunch of folk on the internet would actually want this.

Love the size! Good to see the back, thanks. Price isn't the object for me - quality that = value is. Looking at maybe one brown and one black when they're all worked out...with matching belt type sporran straps (no clips or chains) if that is an option.

Thanks, Steve. The MoD sporran I have and dearly love has a simple keyhole on the flap and a brass post on the face. I've had to rebuild the flap hole a few times over many years, but that's a very inexpensive, easy-to-use and secure closer. I've heard lots of stories about demagnitised credit cards, but haven't seen any bag-magnet proof yet -- and if America follows the rest of the world the chip will come in even for you in the desert, Ron.
