    Current work-in-progress

I mentioned this in another post. It will be a matching jacket and vest - my first from scratch (I have done two conversions).

I modified a Burda pattern, making it shorter, reshaping the hem, and adding epualets, pocket patches and gauntlet cuffs. Since the photo was taken, I have attached buttons and started working on the lining (double-welt inside pockets installed). A very challenging but enjoyable project.

Excellent! I wish I had the time to try something like that. Perhaps one day but in the meantime I will enjoy vicariously through the likes of you on here. Looking forward to seeing the finished thing in context.

While awaiting parts for the jacket, I shifted my efforts to the matching vest, and finished it last night. It fits, well, like it was made for me.
I modified the Burda pattern for a higher, longer, 6-button front line, but decided against adding a collar. It has a full tweed back and is fully lined.
    Back to the jacket...

David great work. What kind of fabric did you use. Looks like it will be a classy jacket/waistcoat combination. After I knock out a couple long sleeve shirts Im going to jump into jackets to go with my waistcoats. Ive got the rather rare Simplicity 5029 Kilt and jacket pattern that I pounced on when I found one in my size. Keep up the great work and make sure you post some pics with you wearing it.
