Just a quick thread to say that I've just bought one of these: IMG_1429.jpg from Comrie Crafts. This is their website I am very impressed both with the top notch craftsmanship and their A1 customer service. it was all in all a delightful experience. I highly recommend them. Edited to add that the sgian arrived VERY sharp and that also there is NO way that you can take out the sgian from the sheath with one hand whilst it is in place in your hose (but that does not bother me in the slightest).

Now that is a lovely Sgian Dubh. I have one in Arctic birch but not with the Damascus steel blade. Top notch work.

It's actually better if the sgian dubh stays firmly inserted in it's sheath whenever you pull it out of your hose. Otherwise you would have to fiddle around inside your hose with your fingers to retrieve the sheath when you wanted to put it back. I have several vintage sgian dubhs with silver-mounted, leather-covered, wooden sheaths, and these are all made so that the sheath fits snugly enough to the blade to prevent it from accidentally getting lost down in your hose when you pull them out.

It really is top notch work. The handle is in bog oak (6000 years old!). Do you have a photo of yours? Where did you get it from?

I have one just like that, I thought it was very good value for money. I have a 130 year old sgian dubh that I just don't wear these days for fear of losing it, so was looking for a replacement without a plastic/resin handle that wouldn't break the bank. This was ideal. I do intend to have the top engraved, there's quite a few guys wear them so I wouldn't want a mix up.

I thought that I had already posted a pic of mine but cant seem to find it. Anyway have just taken a picture of it. Not sure where it came from as it was a birthday gift from the OH. But looking at Comries site I would hazard a guess that it is one of theirs. However now having seen yours I want one of those as well now. Anyway this is mine made with an Arctic Birch handle, bull horn pommel and a stainless steel sharp blade.
