WWI was fought on the grounds where I live.
From an inhabitant of Flanders:
We do not forget the sacrifices.
May the fallen rest in peace.

Many thanks to those who have worn the uniform of their countries, no matter what uniform or what country that may be, and remembrances to those who have fallen while wearing them.

My family's roll, who thankfully all made it through their respective wars alive but have since passed.
My adoptive parents who served in WWII:
Norman A. Hale, Sergeant/Navigator, RCAF
Phyllis M. C. Smith, Staff Sergeant, RCWAC
My maternal grandfather, whom I never had a chance to meet, served in Europe in WWI:
Albert L. Garvin, A/Sergeant, 24th Btn (Victoria Rifles), CEF, Mentioned in Dispatches.

Once again, proud to report, my little corner of the British North Sea to a man, downed tools and fell silent for two minutes quiet contemplation and respectful remembrance at 11:00 hrs (GMT) today. We were remembering military personnel, as well as those who have perished while performing their duties in our offshore oil and gas industries.
Lest we forget.

To my grandfather Thomas Taylor who fought in the trenches in the Great War 1914-1918 and to my late beloved parents who both served in the RAF 1939-1945 you are remembered and missed every day. For those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of freedom, justice and democracy, words cannot express the debt of gratitude that we owe you.

I went to a ceremony at our local war memorial here in the south of France. A nice ceremony but there are fewer and fewer people each year. It's a crying shame.
