kids jacket???
Any ideas where I can find a decent kids jacket (age 7) without spending an arm and a leg? I would much prefer an argyll cut. I would love to get a perfect little tweed jacket for my little man, but can not justify the expense. Shoot...he could out grow it before it was finished being made!!

Most companies that sell Argylls can get kids sizes (including most of the forum sponsors). Not sure what the price is off hand, but if you email me, I can look into it if you want... Though it will probably be 2/3 the price of our adult jackets.

Yow. If you need it for a single occasion, then you can surely rent one for 40 dollahs or so. To get one made? 200 on the conservative side. I asked when I got married, and that's the answer I was given. EBay, of course, might provide you with an Eureka! Yahoo! Eat That Suckahs! moment, but it's hit or miss...

Exacly, Litrog...been scowering the old might bay of e. I did see one, but moved on too quickly and now am not able to find it again.
I agree...$200 is (i bet you are correct at that being conservative) is too much for a kiddo that may only get a few uses.
Figured if anyone would know, they'd be here though.

If you're looking for rental, LT is right. Most places that rent Argylls will have kids sizes. Matt said the STM does, USAK does, etc.

I have check both places, Rocky. I am hoping more than just a sngle usage, but can't see pulling the trigger on an expensive jacket that he will certainly outgrow within a season (perhaps two if I order large and he doesnt grow too quickly).

Have you asked VMAC if she is willing to cut a kids Saxon jacket down to an Argyll? She does a wonderful job with adult jackets. At least she used to do such conversions.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If you keep a kid in a small cat carrier and limit his calories to 600 per day, you might be able to use a jacket for more than 6 months. Don't make the mistake I did: I got all mushy-hearted and gave my son an extra carrot two years ago. Now he's 7 and no longer fits into his newborn onesies!
Damn my soft heart!

I've gotten a few really nice vintage Harris Tweed argyle kilt jackets for my boys off of Ebay -- and never spent more than $30 or $50 for them, either. Just keep your eye open.

I have a child's PC if you're interested. Don't know the size and such but can check when I get home.
