Yours Truly, lifting the....I dunno how much it weighs, but it's damn heavy.....stone that sits in front of Sorinex and keeps people from stealing the rocking chair.

I maybe got that thing 1/2 an inch off the ground. It was probably 400+ pounds. In other words, it's about the weight of ONE of the Dinnie Stones. Adriane took the picture, she was sweetly amused, being the Amazon Stud Warrior Goddess that she is.

That is a serious stone! If I tried to lift that I'd break something in my back and other places.

I assume you're not allowed to decorate the interior of your home.

Yep. Those are the three I'm focusing on now. I don't know if that's a good idea, but I have a feeling I'd get overwhelmed by things if I tried to take on every event at once. Figured I'd break things up and take a couple months to work intensively with each piece. Hopefully by June, I'll be well-enough acquainted with all of them that I can make a decent showing.

The nice thing about Denver is that, while we do get some pretty epic snows once in awhile, things usually warm up enough to melt things off. Doesn't lock down into hard-core winter like it does further east.

No kidding. My guts would be spilling into my undies if I tried that!

Aside from the weight of the stone, the problem is that the small ring chews up your hand. Looks to be about 5/8" bar stock. If the ring were made of 1" round stock, it would be less painful to lift.

Yeah, you can see how my fingers have gone all white, in that picture. I walked out of the gym....HAD to visit Sorinex while I was back there, and Adriane gave me a little tour....anyway I walked out of the gym and saw the stone. I had come in through a different door, so I hadn't seen it. Well... It's a stone of strength, they're all over Scotland, so I HAD to try it. But man, was that thing heavy. One little tug told me that, so I was *extremely* careful to keep my back straight and keep my hips underneath me.

Hour 33 of the involuntary fasting/dehydration phase of my training. Hopefully I can be forgiven for not lifting weights. I have done a fair bit of throwing since early Monday morning, but there was absolutely no horizontal component to the throws.

On the positive side, I've been sprinting a lot and I got a couple days off work...

Planning to be back in action by Thursday.

That was TWO (2) days ago; and your last post was FOUR (4) days ago.

I'm suffering from punniness [rhyme with funniness] withdrawal.

So, Thurday, I did get in a lifing session. Squats, overhead press, preacher curls, chin-ups and hang cleans. Weight-wise, I was only going about 75% of my normal poundage. My recent tussle with intestinal yuck (the official, clinical term for it) left me as weak and shaky as a kitten with the DTs. Didn't want to have to confess my physical infirmity. Saturday I helped a friend move to a new place and every other day was spent bloated with turkey and pie and beer. It took some hardcore dedication to maintain that for so many days. Lazy? Ha!

Went running this morning--2 quick miles with 15 minutes or so of painful sprints. Felt like puking. Wished I had.

Spent a portion of this morning muscling my "new" treadmill down into the basement. My buddy I helped move last weekend discovered he lacked the space and motivation to justify keeping it around, so here I am with a nearly-new $1000 piece of exercise equipment. I suppose that means I'll hafta use it since I got it for free.

I'm not opposed to running--I >cough< used to go out several times a week. Treadmills seem odd, though. Treadmills used to power cranes and stuff, right?! Now they require electrical power in order to leech the excess, flabby energy from your body. Seems like I'm spitting on the graves of the Roman slaves who used treadmills (though they weren't roamin' too far if they were leashed to a treadmill!) to build magnificent Pagan temples. Pagan I am, but I'm not building a temple here...more like an age-pocked vomitorium.

Had time for 3 sets of deadlifts: 8x185, 6x205, 6x225

    and flat bench: 5x225, 5x245, 2x275

and 3 sets of 90-pound dumbell rows.

    Treadmill tonight after work! Bluh.
