Thank you for the advice, but I am afraid that you are missing the point. I do not want a traditional sporran, or rather I have one. I really like the idea of a belt pouch for informal gatherings, especially nights at the pub when it is crowded and a sporran chain or hangers may snag someone else's clothing and break. I would hate to lose my sporran, wallet, and keys in such a place or manner. And heaven forbid a broken chain rip my kilt. And I have read the wonderful review by Whidbey.

The sporran you are showing in your link uses " hangers " .

I understand that you want to protect to your belongings ( I fully agree ) . I would guess that a leather sporran strap would be the most secure , regardless of the sporran . I also understand chains breaking and snagging .

If you want security ( i.e. loosing your keys , etc. ) , it would be difficult for a leather sporran belt to be " snagged " or to be " jerked " from one's person .

The two things that come to light in the product description are "Pirate" and "Belt pouch" Of course, a person could wear an athletic sock dangling from their waist and call it a sporran but that of course does not make it a sporran. If a belt pouch is what you want, then this looks to be a good as any. Relative to security, it seems a proper, and if need be, casual sporran properly worn with a strap would be more secure, and more comfortable, than a belt pouch worn to the front. Sorry, it just doesn't work for me. Mind you, I do wear a belt pouch with a kilt when hiking some times, but I wear it on my hip as designed, not to the front.

Just my opinion of course.

Here is another source for what you seem to want in a belt pouch. Prices seem a bit better.
