Kilt extender straps?
I recently acquired a new (to me!) kilt, but it's a tad snug; I could use two inches (or maybe a bit under) more in the waist. I know that moving the buckles can accommodate this, but I was wondering if anyone had used kilt extender straps of the sort that buckle to the existing straps and then into the buckles on the kilt? Do these work to keep the kilt nice and snug? Or would it be better just to go for the buckle moving approach?
Thanks in advance for your input!

I've used them, while losing weight on a kilt I knew didn't quite fit yet. If you are losing weight and plan on it fitting better soon, I would use them. Otherwise, I would move the straps.

Have used them. Be sure to order the correct width...
I didn't particularly like them since (to me) it looks weird to have this extra buckle showing. Maybe it was embarrassing to me. Hey, look at me I'm too fat for my kilt. But that's just me.
They're not that expensive so double check your strap width and get some to see what you think.

These ones use a Chicago screw to attach to the existing straps, leaving you with only one buckle. http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/kilts/k...extenders.html Worth a look. If I found a second hand kilt that I loved, but was a touch too small, I'd get these, then see if I could loose (and keep off) the weight.
So, if it's tight temporarily, go for the extenders; if it's gonna stay tight, then move the straps.

Moving the buckles costs nothing. It's easy to do. All it takes is a needle and some thread.
That said, the kilt extenders do the job. I had some "fat boy" straps until I made time to get an old kilt altered. Almost no one will notice the extra buckle (ALL XMarks members will though!) However, if you're significantly bigger than your kilt, the underapron shows on the right side, which looks...not quite right.
Have fun pondering...

First time I've seen the Chicago Screws ones. What a great idea!

I got a set from Rocky at USA Kilts for a kilt that was just a little too small. Gave me some incentive to lose some more weight. I don't think they were very noticeable.

I too had a set from Rocky... Still using one of them on one of my kilts because I dont know that I want it resized (will work on resizing me)
As far as them being noticeable... I have a 2 buckle kilt, and with a belt you dont see it... With a jacket you dont see it... With a sweater you dont see it... That usually covers pretty much all of my use...
