    Travel Rug

I came across this the other day. It is a page from a 1960s advertising brochure for BMC (British Motor Corporation). The UK went decimal on the 15th February 1971. As these prices are still in Pounds (£) Shillings (s) and pence (d), it clearly shows that it is from that time frame.

What is interesting is that they are selling travel rugs as accessories at £2 - 19 - 6.

Having owned and/or been family to several of the breed*, I can attest that even in Southern Calif a travel rug came in handy at times! Your feet might be slowly roasting but the rest could get quite chilly in the "wrong" weather -- with or without the top/side curtains. And then I moved to San Jose for college, woefully unprepared for what turned out to be the coldest winter recorded at that time. . .

    Thanks for the glimpse back!

There are two or three tartan travel rugs around the house here - I lost one to mice a few years ago, but they have been around for a very long time. I used them to carry the babies to and from the car, so possibly 30 years old.

Use one of mine when the covers end up on the other side of the bed... She doesn't like the feel of wool so it gets left behind...

Travel rugs were popular for picnics in the 60's... The UK didn't/doesn't(?) have the fast food culture of an eatery every 100yds...

Now if I can just find an olde english white mini traveller to go with my rug...
