If it's a historical novel, I'll be interested.

Absolutely fascinating. I would love to hear more about your sources and what they say. There's a lot of the highlands in the music of Appalachia.

Haha, it'll definately be more of a blood-boiler than a bodice-ripper. I'm not much of a romance writer.

I don't intend any disrespect to anyone, or their opinion, however, I think you should keep the kilt(s) in your book ... as has been noted in the past:

"History is written by the victors." - Winston Churchill

History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days. ~Winston Churchill
"History Is Bunk" - Henry Ford

Until lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunters. ~African Proverb

All the ancient histories, as one of our wits say, are just fables that have been agreed upon. ~Voltaire

History: gossip well told. ~Elbert Hubbard
    and :
If one could make alive again for other people some cobwebbed skein of old dead intrigues and breathe breath and character into dead names and stiff portraits. That is history to me! ~George Macaulay Trevelyan

I wish I would have know this before I spent all of that time (and money) on two history degrees. I bet my students will be upset as well.

Don't forget that Churchill was a historian.

I'd be willing to proofread your manuscript, when the time comes.

    never think it was wasted!
My point is/was that "history" isn't necessarily a collection of ALL the facts, as I'm sure most historians would agree. To paraphrase another quote:
'There were more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your history.'

Like the lack of "proof" for the great kilt, outside of a relatively narrow (when it was recorded by English visitors)time frame, I, personally, think it quite likely that Scots transplanted, or transported, to "the colonies", would have, at least sometimes, worn their kilts (or made new ones).
