Alterations

I recently lost some weight and an inch in the waist. Proud of that but my kilt is now feeling a little roomy.I am using the last hole in the strap now so I don't want to take in too mcuh. I'd prefer to have it altered without sending it back overseas due to the time and shipping cost if possible. Does anyone have a suggestion as to who I could use to have this taken in some? I don't want to go to far with the change but a minor adjustment would make me feel better. Would a good local tailor even be able to do this well?

Assuming you have the standard kilt strap setup. It is an easy thing to move the left strap on the under apron and buckels on the right to tighten things up a bit. If you can sew a button you should be able to move the straps. Or any tailor/seamstress can do it with ease. Good for you dropping the weight.

All you need is a buckle and strap adjustment. There are plenty of how to do it threads in this site if you are a do it your selfer. A local tailor should be able to move them for you, but you should be able to explain how it should be done. Otherwise, hang tight and maybe a kiltmaker from Va. will pop up. Or you can send it out, there are plenty of us in the U.S. who can help you.
