Thumbs up New Hose, and why I like this forum..

Bit of a story, but basically I'd been talking to another forum member, a fellow who'll remain nameless here that I've done a little kilt related commerce with before, via PMs and these Green and Saffron diced hose came up in the conversation. I mentioned how I always wanted some, but could never justify the cost, and he said he didn't really wear them much, and offered me a really good price on them. Sadly I'm so broke right now I can't pay attention, and had to pass. But then a while later, out of the blue he PMs and says if I still want them just give him my address!

I'll likely save them for special occasions, but they'll go great with a couple or three of my kilts.

Despite some grumbles and negativity in a few posts there seems to be a lot of good will going on around here. See all of the people that contributed to the recent kilt give away started by one of our members. Those are a very nice pair of hose Zardoz and look fantastic. They look quite sharp and I am sure will make 17 March a might nice day. I hope to one day get a pair for my saffron kilt.

Does anyone have any positive experiances locating good quality kilt hose in larger sizes. The largest sizes normally available from sartorial purveyors do fit my size 12 to 13 feet, 73" height. The fit however is stretched a bit thin. One more size up would likely provide a slightly improved fit whereby the hose can have some body without being stretched quite so thin. I see some of the golf knicker purveyors may have larger sizes. Comments from those of you experianced with larger sizes than normally provided by the purveyors will be appreciated.

Those hose are beautiful, man! Don't know if I've seen saffron & green diced before; they're fantastic.

About big-sized diced/tartan hose, I know what y'all mean: I wear 13 or 14 US, 18" calves, and am 6'4" in height. Often in the past even expensive bespoke hose have been too short, or too slim. (I even had a bad experience in dealing directly from a leading Scottish hose maker of the highest reputation.)

A while ago I bit the bullet and ordered full tartan hose from a local place, Scottish Treasures in Coronado, CA. They measured foot, leg, and calf, and assured me that the hose would fit. When the hose came I was delighted, because the fit was perfect, in fact a tiny tad on the roomy side. I don't know where they get their hose made.

They also did a great job in matching my somewhat offcoloured kilt (House of Edgar's "muted range").
