It's not long ago, Graham, you were saying it's tartan or nothing I love the way we egg each other on in our addiction.

"Maybe tartans will replace flags someday"

The Catalan tartan is based on the Catalan flag, which is based on an historical event. So you could be right Bubba, hehe.

Historically (or maybe once upon a time), a Catalunyan Count swiped his bloody fingers accross a shield as he died, leaving four red lines. Then it became a symbol that was incorporated later into the flag, and crisscrossing sets of four red lines are the main theme of the Catalan tartan.

    tartans...

The Dutch Mackay tartan is based on the Dutch flag...red, white and blue, although the red in the Dutch flag used to be Orange for the House of Orange-Nassau.

    Cheers (b)

    Wolfgang (back to the subject)...

I HIGHLY recommend this site for tartans!
    http://www.thescottishweaver.com

These guys have a LOAD of tartans in clans, districts, corporate, etc.

They also have a LOAD of different materials for your specific needs.

If worse comes to worst, they even have the ability to do custom work.

There's GOT to be something there that catches your eye?!

I've seen the Rampant Lion kilts in several colors. I thought it looked kind of smart, although not enough that I wanted one for myself. The colors in the Barbour tartan remind me of one of the Kinloch Anderson coporate tartans which are readily available in the Brecan line of ready-to-wear kilts. At the end of the day though you should buy what looks good to you and what you want to wear. Diversity is what makes all this so interesting.

Ahhh... Now don't go minding Graham too much there Wolf! A few months ago he would never have imagined buying a plain kilt. Now he owns one... or soon will. Right Gray? A themed kilt is really no different than plain or camo which are a type of theme in their own way. Anyways, Graham will change his mind in a couple of months (after he's out of the doghouse )and order a Thistle themed kilt. Right Gray?

BTW, The nicest themed kilt I've ever seen was a blue-grey color with a single large "X" across the backside. Saw one on display a couple of weeks ago at a nearby highland games. It looked fabulous. (It was also expensive.) Someday maybe. 8)
