I think I was proposed to!!!

As we all know comments about kilts come in many forms. Some are positive, some negative and some are just an acknowledgement of our wearing kilts. Today was a unique one for me. I was doing errands dressed comfortably in my Stillwater Economy Wool BlackWatch kilt, burgundy kilt hose, brown natural tan wingtips, hand made garter ties, sgian dubh, MOJO leather Rob Roy sporran, copper brown Henley shirt and my tweed vest. Throughout the day I had many smiles and nods of approval so I felt quite comfortable. While standing at the liquor counter picking up my bottle of Edradour 10yr Scotch to celebrate the Solstice I felt the presence of someone behind me. I turned to see this woman giving me a thorough once over. She smiled and said she had been trying to catch up with me to "See if I was wearing a wedding ring". Yes that is what she said. I smiled real big and said I was flattered but had a girlfriend. She then asked to photograph me for here girlfriend that lives in Scotland. She stated they both love men wearing kilts. I agreed to the photo, she was rather close to me and then backed up as I jokingly said you need to get all of me not just the kilt and legs. We had a laugh, she thanked me and left saying she really loved men in kilts. I thanked her for that, bought my Scotch and went on my way. Sorry I didnt request a copy of the photo, Im not that forward giving out my email or requesting someone I dont know to send me a photo. It did definitely make my day. So was I proposed to or did she really just like the kilt?

I think she was light-heartedly hunting for her friend to cheer her up. Probably broken up with her beau in the last few months. The sting has subsided but there is still a dull ache. Probably a serious relationship. Long-term prospects that never fully blossomed. Ended on amicable terms so that she could save face but he probably initiated the breakup. Her friend wants her to see that there are other fish in the proverbial sea.

Then again, that may just be my aspie brain running amok.

Darn and I thought it was my wit, charm and dashing good looks in a kilt. Also the bottle of 10yr Edradour in my hand. So much for my ego.
