Hi freddy, I'm sorry I missed you. WE may have been in the city at the same time. I didn't look at the kilt too closely, just noted that the pleating was front-facing.
...and MacCathmhaoil, yes youge and Queen Bay store in the lower level with the seasonal stuff, food and party stuff as I recall. My daughter and I were there looking for chocolates.

I'll have to pop in there today to take a look, although with the crowds it may be a fools errand.

I did manage to get back and take a look at tweed selection. Seems about a fifty-fifty split for single versus double rear vents on the jackets, some nice tweeds with the double vents. The advantage to these jackets is that they will do double duty, you can wear them with both pants and a kilt. All the "skinny" cut jackets I tried on ended up at the same point on my hip as my Braemar jacket and about the same point, give or take a 1/2 inch, as my bespoke doublet. With the Boxing Day sales here as well as my daughters discount I should be able to acquire both waistcoat and jacket for less than $150. with tax. It did just occur to me that I could conceivably pass this purchase by my girlfriend as a legitimate fashion purchase without negatively impacting my already highly scrutinized highland dress budget..........mmmmmm one more reason!
For some time now I ave been looking for an economical solution to the less traditional daywear look, no epaulets/fancy cuffs and this seems to fit the bill rather well.

I was staying at the Shereton on Queen St West during Grey Cup week-end and what a party that was, with plenty of kilts on show. It was a 60th birthday treat for my wife and we loved Toronto. We'll be back soon!
The Kilt is my delight !

It was quite the party and the Sheraton was right in the heart of it. Glad to hear you'll be back!
