Ah! That's different, Tim. I was thinking of the long-established, traditional Scottish kiltmakers who tailor only to order and who, mostly, have to purchase the tartan fabric especially for each customer.
Hamish- They already have all those swatches on their site, what would be so hard to add a pic of a kilt in that tartan, they are kilt makers, correct?

Unless you've seen a particular tartan made into a kilt, you may not know what it looks like, some have much larger sett than others. If they've never made a kilt with a certain obscure tartan or fabric, then it's understandable, don't show it.
Sorry Tim. The kiltmakers I was thinking of generally 'lift' those swatches from, or refer you to, one of just a few central tartan registeries. They don't often use their own images.
I do see your point of view, however. It would certainly help prospective clients of those kiltmakers who work in only a limited range of tartans, to be able to see the finished product.
