A ghost of Christmas past... Santa's toy deliveries

Anyone over the age of 30 in the UK should definitely remember Action Man (GI Joe to the colonialists) I remember getting the Life Guards, Blues and Royals, the free gift of the Mountie uniform etc etc... Generally all for Christmas.

The one I dont recall receiving though was the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders one... Which set me off this morning on the interweb looking to see just how rose tinted my memories of it might be...

First find... Almost but not quite...

Apparently there was a 2006 reissue for the 40th anniversary

    And the original...

Ah, action man, I remember him well. I had a British Infantry uniform, a German uniform and a bright orange divers uniform for him, but I never knew about the Scottish one, must have been issued after I'd grown out of it. I also had G I Joe but I don't think he was as well made if memory serves me well. I remember my old Scottish Granny asking me what I wanted for Christmas and when I replied 'Action Man' my Mother had to explain that it was a doll. My Granny (who was getting a bit senile by) then bought me a girls doll!
Many years later I was taking pictures at the fire station Christmas party and when Santa asked a young lad what he wanted for Christmas he answered "An Action Man" and his sexy young Mother said "So do I!"
The Kilt is my delight !

Just checked e-bay and found a series of items. I searched "action man, highland" and it brought up the sporran, hose, jacket, kilt and spats. All were individual items. To buy them all would be about $160.00. All were in the Argyll & Sutherland tartan/pattern. Action man not included.
