Thanks, Graham. I'll take that as a compliment! But hey, we are not in the same age group ....... you are still a child compared to me!! (Just returning the compliment! )

Blu, I believe you are thinking of the "Saltire Kilt" from The Kilt Centre in Scotland. I have seen it being worn and, you are right, it IS fabulous! When those pleats swing ..... Oh boy!!
I have spoken with the Company about it, thinking that the St.Andrew's cross must have been 'printed' onto the dark blue wool, but I was assured that it is woven into it. The amazing thing is that, the white cross does not appear inside the pleats, only on the outside of them. I'd love one for my "Kollection" but, as you say, it is expensive!
There is a drop-down window showing the kilt (not terribly well, unfortunately) when you log on to:
www.thekiltcentre.com
On the subject of Saltire kilts: Club Kilts also have one but, in their case, the cross is on the apron leaving the pleats plain blue. With this, the cross is appliquéd onto the wool of the kilt - not woven in! See:
www.clubkilts.com/acatalog/info_7.html
Take care,
Ham.
(PS: I wish you had not reminded me about The Kilt Centre's one ........... I WANT IT!!

Never told You to buy yourself a Rampant Lion tartan Kilt, did I? I would not spend money on things I don't like either.

Hi all-
I also like the looks of The Kilt Centre's Saltire kilt and would love to see those pleats swing as Hammish described... The info on the website being somewhat nebulous, does anyone have rough pricing info?
By the way, first post here. Phil H sent me. Just telling you that so you know who to blame...

Wow... that's great! Appreciate the info, Hamish. Ever since I saw the thing it's become a kind of kilt paradigm for me. I hope by the time I can afford one, they're still available.

Thanks Glen! I am sure you will be seeing more of me in the future. I sent a rather weighty bio to Hamish (spelled his name right this time...) but should probably send a shorter note of personal introduction to the group. Will do so in a new thread when I get a few minutes.

Buying a Lion Rampant kilt for less than $400 US?
That Lion Rampant kilt is great and I want one!
Kiltstore.net has it (see the link below), but it's nearly $400. I don't have many arms and legs left, and if I want to remain ambulatory I can't see parting with more than $200 or so for any until I finally win the lottery. I searched until my eyes bled, but can't find a thing. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hi Steve,
It does not help you much, but Hector Russell also has this kilt priced slightly less than The Kilt Store - but they have only the full 8 yard kilt whereas The Kilt Store also has a "leisure" version which is probably 5 yards.

Hi Mychael,
Just wanted to say "Welcome" to "X Marks", and to let you know that I have received your e-mail, for which many thanks. I'll try to reply tomorrow.
Ref. the name: call me "Ham." everyone else does (at least, my friends do!! )
