Just wondering.
I wonder if we have a new systen at work? When I want to lurk I have in the past just gone to "todays post"without logging in and up comes the list of posts going back in time. Now that option is not available to me and I have to go to "what's new" and to see it I have to log in. Alright not a big deal, but I do prefer to lurk and read the posts before I choose to contribute to a thread. Any thoughts?

Ran into the same thing late yesterday and it continues. Frustrating. Usually, I'll view "What's New" and if there is a post I want to respond to, I will then log on. What gives?

Whew! Thanks, gang...thought it was just me. I noticed the change late yesterday and was puzzled by it. I reran all my clean-up and anti-virus programs just to make sure it wasn't on my end.
Having the "Today's Posts" available makes a quick survey of posts possible without logging in. I'm sure Steve's computer boffins will either sort it or provide an explanation in good time.

Now I am puzzled too. I have never seen "Today's Posts". When I open xmarks I have two options on what to see, forum or what's new. I always go to what's new and start looking at the posts. I don't actually log on, just open the site and I am ready to go.

Just to be clear, I have to log on to "what's new" before I am allowed to see the posts, there is no option.

Sailortats,
I have never seen "Today's Posts". When I open xmarks I have two options on what to see, forum or what's new. I always go to what's new and start looking at the posts. I don't actually log on, just open the site and I am ready to go.
I believe that's because your computer is keeping you logged in all the time. Some of us don't do that for a number of reasons; I always log out after a visit but you might not.
In the past, a casual passerby (or lurker) coming to the site would see a "Today's Posts" tab at the top. Clicking the tab revealed a list of posts made in the last XX hours, regardless of forum topic. It allowed the visitor / lurker / non-logged-in reader to peruse topics and see if there was anything interesting before logging in to reply.
At the moment, the "public" header that a visitor sees no longer has that option.

I don't think it's a positive change.

I've never noticed it. I've always just gone to the what's new tab. But then my computer/phone/tablet keeps me logged in all the time

Looks like normal service is resumed. Great! Thank you.

Jock,
When you lurk is it traditional highland lurking or is more akin to American modern day lurking?
;)
