The one thing to ask the place you're renting the kilts from... where were they made? Many places rent Pakistani kilts (which RETAIL for $50 - $140) for the same price as most companies rent traditional 8 Yard Wool kilts made in Scotland or by a trained kiltmaker (which retail for $400 - $700). If you're renting and the cost is about the same, why wouldn't you rent the nicer kilt?

In doing research before starting our rentals, we found that roughly 1/3 of the companies renting kilts were renting inexpensive "casual" type kilts. Great way to make a profit, but poor business practice in our eyes.

Rocky, I just sent a friend your way. He's over from Scotland, studying in PA for a bit, and needs to rent a jacket for a black tie Burns Night. Hopefully you can help him out.

This is the USAK Stering tartan Casual Ian made for me - It's my goto summer kilt - am wearing it out

Pleated to sett, it looks great and goes with any color and place you choose.
Unless you need the rest of the kit or time is real short, Buy one with rush if needed. This one was only $121 delivered into my hands. It is easy care PV instead of wool.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I believe that Burnett & Struth(a adveriser here on the forum) do rentals, also there is a place in Kearney NJ called The Pipers Cove that also does them for a cost of $125-$150, depending on what you need or want. I actually bought my first kilt from John(owner) when I moved from Scotland in 1981, and I STILL wear it regularly(with expanders, as it has obviously shrunk a wee bit)LOL. Hope it helps you out.
    Aye Yours.
