    Kilt hose

    Hello Ham,

I am writing to you on this board to ask about kilt hose. I prefer the scottish kilt hose because they are of a thicker material and look better than socks. I noticed in you gallery of pictures that you seemed to have red hose and I was wondering where you got them. I look at some of my kilt sources and none of them sell the red. You can e-mail me at billaugustine@wideopenwest.com or leave a message at this board.

    Sincerely,
    Bill Augustine

I bought some Soccer socks in red and they look great in my opinion. So you might like to try the sports shops.

    Hi bill
Firstly Welcome to us,I hope you like what you see.Now to your Question..

any good long hiking/Skiing sock will do as long as it has a solid colour. When wearing boots and in casual mode I roll them down a bit and when I use shoes I have them pulled up.

Now I'm going to sound like Graham ....Why don't you introduce yourself at the "Newbie" section ...We don't bite ...........much
    All the Best.....David.

Hi Bill - and like everyone else says, "Welcome"!

I am replying here because there is nothing personal in either your enquiry or my response, and also my reply might just be of interest to others.

I was initially puzzled by your reference to my "red" kilt hose and had to roll through my album at IMFF.NET to find what you were referring to. I am assuming that you saw the 'maroon' hose I was wearing with my wine-coloured "TFCK" kilt? Yes, those are true kilt hose and not socks, and they are really good and chunky! I have not worn them with a tartan kilt (yet) because none of my current tartans have maroon in them!

This pair came from Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd. of Edinburgh - the parent company of "TFCK" - and are to be found on their website at: www.geoffreykilts.co.uk

Click on "H/Dress Accessories", and then on "Hose" to find them. The current price is £13.00 per pair in this and other colours.

    I hope this helps.

    Kilt hose

    Hello Ham,

The picture I saw the red kilt hose was in you Photo section on this forum. It was the photo labeled a quartet of Ham's. I have since seen the hose I was looking for at Sports Kilts and have ordered them. I have several shirts I want to match the hose to better. I have bottle green, some blue one a Black and two off whites. I think I just needed a red and yellow. I thank you for the assistance. I will fill out the new member information now.

    Sincerly,
    Bill Augustine

OK. Sorry Bill, most queries I receive are in connection with the IMFF.NET photo album. The scarlet red socks in that photo are, indeed, SOCKS not hose! They are short, but very thick walking, or hiking, socks which I roll down just once to achieve the really chunky look. There is absolutely no way I could wear them as kilt hose! They came from an 'outdoor/camping' chain of shops here in the UK by the name of "Millets". It was some years ago and, I regret, I cannot now remember the price, but they would not have been expensive.

Anyway, I am pleased you have found what you wanted.

I have some also and I got some from Oshman's and also Adademy Sports. Look for Baseball socks, they seem to be a little longer than Soccer socks.

They will run about $6.00 US a pair.
