Well I see that quite a number of members have me beat but I think this year I can legitimately say over half a century. My mother made kilts for my bother and I to wear to church as small boys. I must have been quite young because my memory of it is vague. I know my bother's was Royal Stewart and mine Hunting Stewart. I remember she had to add suspenders to mine (we would have called them braces then) as it kept falling down over my skinny little boy hips. I did not have any problem with the kilt but I remember bigger boys teasing me about the braces. I then had a series of cadet and old military kilts I partied and pub crawled in through high school and university. When I got engaged my parents bought me a locally made 8yd "tank" in our family tartan. I wore it to my wedding over thirty years ago and last year my youngest son wore the same kilt to be best man at his brother's wedding. A lot of history, a lot of significant events and a lot of fun kilted when I look back on my life.

10 years. Picked up an Amerikilt the Celtic Fling at Mount Hope and fell in love (with the kilt, not with Michael.)

First kilt August 2010 - totally won over. Evolved from MH Elkommandos to Sport Kilts to Utilikilts to traditionals. The last 3 are all worn routinely.
100% kilted every day since Sept 2010 - 55 kilts into the growing addiction. Oh, that's a nice tartan.....
No cats got skinned but I think about 7 cows did, for 3 kilts.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

1976 – I was part of the disastrous RAF Honington Pipe Band. They played so badly that 20 of us were detailed to be ‘The Pipe Band Official Escort’. We called ourselves ‘The Cheerleaders’. The Idea was that we used to march around, between the band and the public with the hope of distracting away from the music. The torture lasted for almost two years till no one could endure the cacophony any more. Within five days all the band members were posted out. We, in the Escort, had to hand our kilts back into stores and that was the end of that.
Fast forward to 2006. I win a corporate prize of a complete kilt outfit. Kilt, kilt pin, PC, waistcoat, dress shirt, ‘highlander shirt’, two pairs of hose (white and grey), some flashes, ghillie brogues, sgian dubh, dirk, belt, leather day sporran, furry dress sporran, sporran strap, tartan bow tie, black tie and the shoddiest cuff links, I have ever seen.
Everything fit beautifully, except the kilt. It was 4” too tight. A quick purchase of a Loud Macleod (wife’s clan) and a Black Stewart and the downward spiral of buying and wearing had begun.
Regards
Chas

I got a Brown utilikilt workman just before Thanksgiving 2002. My Boss at the Harley dealership thought it was funny and tried to make fun of me by wrapping the kilt around his own waist and affecting a weird girlish accent. It didn't work, I wore it to work the next day. You'd think a Harley shop would be pretty used to people acting different, but you'd be wrong. The second day of wearing the kilt my supervisor told me that I couldn't wear a kilt to work anymore. I said "okay, but you can't make me wear long pants, I'll never wear pants again!" and to this day I've worn shorts to work and changed into my kilt as soon as I get off. I do make the concession of wearing riding overpants on top of my shorts or kilt when I ride my motorcycle. I don't even know if there is a pair of pants in theback of the closet nor do I care.
I do, however have several cats who act like they own my house and are very healthy thank you very much.

I started in 2010 with a SportKilt that never seemed fit right, despite that it was swapped three times. Then came a second SportKilt because the first was the wrong color, according to the missus. Then I found a Stillwater heavy in Black Watch and knew that it was the PV that was wrong in my mind. This last year I ordered a USA Kilt in a lighterweight wool with more yardage. While I'm not full time yet, I am working on it. Now to bug the college about the dress code for the commencement this year.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.
