Thank you for the information. I am attaching another pic of the tartan. Its a little further away, just wanted you to see the bigger pic. Would your advice still be the same, & what would your advice be on possibly doing box pleats? I found & printed out the supplement to your book on box pleats. After reading it & seeing how they turn out, I actually like those better. They look more formal to me. If you feel they would be harder, I will follow your instruction.

Ohhhhhh - I couldn't see the whole sett. The whole sett goes from the white in red to the double green in red. Yup - it's a doozy. The pleating to white stripe would still work as described in the previous post, though.

I was actually going to suggest box pleats. You'd need to do some test pinnings and see how the pleats lie, but pleating one box centered on the white in green and the adjacent box centered on the double green in red could be good. It certainly is the right kind of size for pleats. You'll know once you try it out. Be sure to figure the pleat taper and take that into account.

You are a Godsend. You solved a mystery for me I have been trying to figure out (or see) after spending at leaset 3 weeks looking at it walking away, & coming back to it over & over again. I can't thank you enough. I will follow all your instruction. As soon get some pinnings done I will put pictures up to see what you think. Debbie

Anyone who has made a bunch of kilts has eventually had this experience. It's one of those "in denial" moments.

Nah, can't be as bad as that. *walks away*

Nah, I must just be missing something - maybe I'll see it if I come back with "fresh eyes". *works on another kilt*

OK, so maybe I'm not missing something. What on Earth am I going to do? *has beer* ;-)

    Hi Barb

Hi Barb, Sorry I haven't posted in a while been under the weather. Here is a very rough mock up of the pleat pattern. I think this is the correct places that you instructed me to pleat. I don't think it looks to bad. So, I'm off & running to make things permanent. I'm even more excited now that I got some wonderful advice. It is giving me a great deal of satisfaction to make this kilt. I love to sew & create. Looking forward to hearing your advice. Deb002.jpg
