It is your body - why should anybody else care?

Ear rings for men, have gone in and out of fashion for the last 3,000 years. I have a wardrobe full of flares, kipper ties and moon boots, just waiting for the day. Wowfabgroovy!

    Regards

    Chas

Brooke, my good Sir; event? what event? I have no idea what you could be referring to. And on the 16th I will be midway through my round the world tour on the good ship Lollipop.

Everybody is free to do what he or she wants for as long he or she is respecting the freedom of another. But what is the relation of the subject to the kilt?

I think the inention of the OP was to ask of the appropriateness of wearing earrings with the kilt.

You are a standout in your conformity!

That was my take as well, we've had similar discussion about watches and finger rings, I don't see how the earrings is much different. If you think it looks OK with your outfit, go ahead. I've had a pierced ear since my teens, (and tats for that matter) I haven't been wearing an earring lately, but surely can if the mood strikes me.

I don't have any tattoos or piercings either, however: Respectfully, I don't see how having piercings or tattoos (which weren't even part of the original question) makes a person a follower, nor how not having them makes a person a leader. It could be argued that not having tattoos or piercings is following old-fashioned taboos against them. Either way: piercings or no piercings, tattoos or no tattoos, it's an individual choice just like choosing to wear a kilt.

As to the original assumed question of whether it's appropriate to wear a kilt with pierced ears... I'm having a hard time imagining even the most militant kilt police trying to invoke a "no pierced ears with highland dress" rule with a straight face; I think the "appropriateness" of pierced ears is going to be judged the same whether you're kilted or not, and that it's going to be driven largely by generational attitudes. Personally, I can't remember the last time I paid attention to whether or not a guy had ear piercings... but someone from my grandparents' generation would probably zero right in on it and make a snap character judgement about it.

Wear what you will. I though have been pierced by the accidents of daily life and tattooed by the scars they left behind.
