Jamie, you sound like me... Last winter, I sent in a couple rolls... One that I had just finished, and one that I thought was the previous roll I shot. Got'em back, and realized that the one I thought was the previous roll, was not. It was one from 1996/97... Needless to say, the photos on the CD needed to be run through Photoshop for correction of color and adjustment of the saturation... My problem is that I go through rolls pretty quickly, but let'em stack up for a while before I send'em off to be processed... I once had about 15 or so rolls that hadn't been developed. Including one that was an old Kodacolor VR roll that didn't have the DX film speed coding on it.

    Jon,

I have a couple of questions about types of film and
developing. I am going to post them back under the one dealing with photography.

    Mychael,

If you scan your kilt photos and need any help posting them let me know.

As for the kilt, it is my first traditional kilt, and it is quite handsome! I am waiting for my wife to come home before I take out the basting that confines the pleats so we can first see it in its full blown glory together. besides, what good would a twirl be with no audience?!

Speaking of the wife, she has a waistcoat and shawl in the box and I am looking forward to seeing her reaction. I couldn't talk her into a kilted skirt or woman's coatee.

DHL has waited a month before sending me a bill for border fees. You're not out of the woods, yet.

No, Bear, don't SAY that... One month later, huh? That is a long time for one to keep one's fingers crossed.

I have not yet reviewed the size limitations or other rules that the 'gallery' imposes on its users. If I have any troubles, I will give a shout. Thanks for the offer, John!

It did take me a little fiddling with Photoshop to get an avatar that the site found acceptable where kB and pixels were concerned. Nothing too 'taxing', however.

My second kilt outfit from the U.K. arrived yesterday. This kilt is a Campbell of Argyll, Weathered tartan. That tartan is only available in 16 oz. material, so this kilt is very heavy! I was surprised that it was physically so much heavier than my 13 oz from Kinloch Anderson. In my estimation, a 13 oz. kilt is quite adequate, but does the 16 oz. ever feel satisfying to wear in regard to being solid. Its excellent drape and movement had my wife panting with immediate desire!

Anyway, since this thread is more about U.S. Customs than an inspired wife, here is my update:

The package arrived via U.S. Postal Service, and it came with a bill attached... The driver said that this is unusual since he had not had to collect import duties before. The amount was for 17.5% of total, the bill roughly $100 higher than I should have been assessed based on rates I had received directly from U.S. Customs before placing my order.

"Wanna reject the package?" asked the driver. After a three month wait?!! I told him that I wanted the duds and would settle up later with the guv' via an official letter of protest, of which I have 90 days to submit.

Wish me luck on that one... Regardless of the outcome, I will still enjoy the kilt, as well as the inspired wife.

Congrats on a new kilt Mychael, and I'm so glad your wife is pleased too!

Sounds like it will be great for the winter!

What a shame about customs, that only happened to me once, buying a handheld computer from the USA. It's never happened with kilts.

    Mychael,

That stinks about the customs fiasco, especially about the extra money. I hope you get things worked out with this one, but that you don't get nailed later for the first one.

Is this kilt from the company that you were less than satisfied with the customer service?
