Wider World of Sports visits Highland Games

    Link

Searched and didn't see this previously posted. "Host Kenny Mayne travels to Scotland to watch the Highland Games." Evidently ran last fall, we just caught the tail end of a rerun yesterday but the full feature is available at the YouTube link above. Some of the expected jokes but seemed overall a pretty good look at the Games for mainstream media.

I watched this on TV last night.
One thing I noticed was it seemed all the athletes wore traditional wool tanks. Yea!

An interesting video and it was good to see an American viewpoint on Scottish games, even an interview with referee Alan Pettigrew.
It was great to see on video the athletes who are familiar on our Scottish games circuit, but Neil Harris, where did that come from? Over here he is known as Neil Elliot.

If you look closely, you'll notice a Japanese competitor...that's Kengo Kubota, who has really taken off with the events and is always a threat here in the USA in the Open classes, or the Masters 40's. Kengo is about 42-43 years old. He's a tea importer, has made quite a business of it, and because of that, travels all over the world and throws at Highland Games pretty much all over. He's a really great guy.
