Todays' response
I had a tradesman come round to do a small job, when he saw me he looked at the kilt. Shortly after he asked if I wore a kilt all the time, or was it a special occasion.
I said that I wore it pretty much all the time, and that each day was a special occasion.
He then proceeded to tell me that he "had" to wear one when he was a kid. It turns out his late father was a leader (pipe major I think) of our local pipe band and was also president of the local Caledonian Society.
It's amazing the stories generated and facts gathered about people when one is seen in a kilt.
It makes life interesting.

Graham, it never ceases to amaze me sometimes how small the world seems sometimes. The chances of making a connection like that seems so remote but it happens more often than we might think. A cousin of mine was living last year as an expat working in Kuwait. He happened to strike up a casual conversation with a women who, as it turns out, was a good friend of his own second cousin. Neither wore kilts but it was an amazing coincidence nonetheless.
