Oh you Americans have a lot to learn!!!
Anzac Day is a public holiday to commemorate Australians and New Zealanders killed in war and to honour returned servicemen and women.

I got my education on Anzac Day while in Saudi Arabia. Expats celebrated every holiday of any nation as a reason for a gathering.... 4th of July, Bastille Day, Canada Day, Boxing Day/St. Stephens day, Robbie Burns... any reason for a party and to associate with other expats.... including, amazingly enough, Americans
