    Not quite 50 shades . . .

Finally got the chance to put the whole kit together last weekend at the Scottish Ramble in St. Paul.

Rocky & Co. did a great job on a Highland Granite 5-yard kilt for me recently. When he says "4-6 weeks, he means it. It came in the post exactly four weeks after the order was placed.

I love this thing. With the heather grays in the background, the Lochcarron tartan has a depth most other gray/black tartans lack. As for USA's work, it was exceptional for the price. How good? I placed an order for a MacKenzie modern last night. Thanks, guys.

Teamed it up with a jacket I recently converted and a sporran I cobbled together with some of the spare cloth Rocky provided. Unfortunately, the scrap wasn't quite wide enough to turn the tartan 45 degrees and still center the main element in the center of the sporran flap, so I left it vertical.

Well, that looks altogether, rather smart.

    Well done indeed!

A very nicely coordinated outfit - a handsome kilt and coat combination. Congratulations! I like the way you worked the tartan into the sporran (as you described), and I particularly like your balmoral for a bit of contrast.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Very smart looking kit, sir! Guid on ye! I'm more and more impressed with Rocky's outfit almost daily... To be quite honest, I'm "double-jonesing" for one of his semi-trad jobs, to wit: first I have to save the money, then I have to order the kilt! Doh.

    Congrats aye,
    Wesley

When the jonesing gets the better of you and your finally pull the trigger, I know you won't be disappointed. I took the opposite route of most and ordered two wool jobs from Rocky before I finally ordered the semi-trad MacKenzie (slumming?) Great kilts, but I now need something lighter and more knock-around for the summer and the occasional trip to the pub. I keep hearing Carol King singing "Anticipation."

    Too many kilts/tartans . . . too little time and $.
