A Visit With Kathy Lare - Kiltmaker
I'm in Albuquerque for work - big meeting. Had tonight off and was able to link up with Kathy Lare and her husband Rob Theige. Got a tour of Albuquerque, a visit to Rob's work, dinner at an Irish pub, and a visit to Kathy's home shop.
Took these pics outside the pub. Check out Rob's bonnet!

Got to see some beautiful kilts in process....

Ron: I spoke with Kathy this afternoon and she mentioned that she was very much looking forward to your visit. You didn't happen to see my largely purple/blue/green Strathtummel "in process", did you?
I am looking forward to going to her new shop for the first time in a few days for a fitting. I also enjoy browsing Rob's workplace, too - one of my favorite shops to visit when I am in Albuquerque. He's quite the historian and full of interesting information. You didn't happen to have a bowl of Shepherd's stew, did you? It's my favorite at O'Niell's, though I don't get there very often - too far from the house.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Did see your kilt I believe. Well on its way....unless it wasn't your kilt.... They are such a cool couple - so knowledgeable in their fields. Had the Reuben at O'Neil's...would have had fish and chips but I'd had that the night before AND for lunch...love fish ahd chips if they're done well.

Very nice. I have a kilt made by Kathy Lare, and it's among my favorites.

I agree!
Now that I am in Santa Fe, maybe we can to a kilt night somewhere. I'm also quite surprised that Rob wasn't kilted for the occasion, although the weather has been pretty nasty and I don't think that I have worn mine in at least a month.
Maybe we can even get Riverkilt to visit up this way...

Gordon: That's a capital idea!
I'm glad to hear that your transition to Santa Fe was successful. Perhaps, we could get together at some place like the 2nd Street Brewery and have a pint or two. I'll let you suggest a place, since you are the resident expert, now. My wife, and my son and his wife, might join us, as well.
Our next planned jaunt to Santa Fe is to the Lensic Theater on March 15 to see Belisama, an Irish dance company. Michael Patrick Gallagher, lead of Riverdance, et. al. is dancing with them. Of course we can go to Santa Fe just about any time, though weekends are best for us. It would be great if Riverkilt could participate, if he's not wandering around the far reaches of the Arizona wilderness.

We will be going down to Albuquerque on the 10th to see the Black Watch. Don't know if the pocketbook can handle two events in one week. Wish I had known about Belisama earlier!
A few pints with any and all sounds great. Now if I can just drag my wife away from her textbooks for an evening....
It might be fun to find the right spot in Santa Fe for kilts, and the 2nd Street sounds just fine. Now that the weather has warmed up I'll probably be out and about at least twice a week or so.
But, back on topic. Ron's long hair looks so good in the photos that I just might disagree with my wife about getting mine trimmed up. Maybe once Ron and I have a photo together.
