Well Hamish, one of the good things about being in a small and isolated island is that those things common elsewhere are still uncommon here.
Heck, saffron kilts are common in Ireland, plain green and caramel kilts are plentiful in many areas.
I choose a tartan based on colour mostly, from the samples I've seen, there's a lot to like about the Black Watch. It's almost like a plain black kilt with more than a hint of tartan.
