Ordered a House of Edgar kilt!

So I went to my local Scottish store in Portland to pick up a magazine. While there I notice a Mackenzie kilt in a 5 yd medium weight and asked to try it on. OMG what a great feeling this was! The first time I'd put on a kilt since high school in the early 80's. I was hooked on it and ordered my own tartan, a Ross hunting muted, right then! So now I shall be the proud owner of two kilts in 8-10 weeks!

Talk about thrilling!!! Addictive? Oh my yes!!!!

Now to gather up accessories for the House of Edgar kilt and wait the weeks needed. THAT will be tough as will stepping out to town in the kilt. Still very nervous about that.

I gather from your comments that you bought the 5-yd. MacKenzie and ordered the Ross Hunting. In any case two great choices. Congratulations! MacKenzie is one of my favorites and that Ross tartan looks very nice. Can't wait to see the kilt. Please post pics, when you can.

As for being nervous when stepping out for the first time, don't worry about it. Use that old technique speakers employ when they give a talk. Just pretend you are naked. Or, is it that you pretend everyone else is naked? I always get that part mixed up.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Actually I had to pass on the Mackenzie as it was too expensive and not my clan. I could only afford the one kilt and the Ross being my own clan was first choice. But oh did it feel good to wear!!

It's great to see you so enthusiastic at rediscovering the kilt and I thought it interesting that you spontaneously jumped in and purchased two kilts at once. So... when you are accessorized and ready to step out, do that spontaneously as well.

I would suggest that you go out for the first time with a friend or family member (wife) so that you have some 'acceptance' traveling with you. You will find that most people will be accepting of you in a kilt (especially women). You may be nervous at first but, after the initial looks and usual comments, you will relax and become more comfortable with yourself.

Well done! Try not to be nervous, mate. You have no reason to be.

    Cheers,
