Were I sure of my ability to purchase some, I'd prefer the wool in the "modern" colours. The reason for doing something different is that you would almost certainly attract some of the folks that were involved in the first run, while that would be a bit more difficult if you simply did more of the same.

    Just something to consider...
I'd tend to agree with you, Cygnus. For two reasons.

    1) the original colours are so very strange. After he got my colour chips Kenny Dalgliesh called me up to tell me how strange the dark green was
So the chances of getting an exact match are probably not great.

    2) like you said, a different colourway might be of more interest to people who bought in on the first round.

I haven't voted yet myself, but I'm certainly leaning toward a the modern sett myself.

I voted 'either material'... while I would prefer wool, I'd still rather have the chance to buy some in PV than not at all.

Similarly, I voted for 'as close to the original colors as feasible, recognizing that they're not going to be exactly the same'; that would be my preference, but in all likelihood I'll still be interested if the majority chooses something else.

I remember actually being surprised that the overall color in the original run was as light as it was - I was visualizing it as being much darker based on the design thumbnail. I would buy a length of the darker modern. Somehow this tartan just _needs_ to be dark...

I would have voted for the modern colors if the violet was a little more vivid. I wish the violet was more vivid in all of them, honestly.

It's got to match my Cthulhu fez, at least.

I voted for what I would prefer but I'm in on this round for however it comes out.

Only interested in wool AND original colours (or as close as can be achieved.) Might be interested in Modern after seeing actual sample or yardage.

Unfortunately, THAT is a situation that is seriously unlikely to happen. Barring one occurrence where one of the purchasers of the original run had to sell their share, there was no extra, and after it was made I got quite a few PMs asking if "there was more available".
Unless someone plans to buy some 'extra' yardage this will (like last time) be a pay-to-play purchase, with no stock yardage made for afterthoughts.

I am aware of the C'thulhu, but not of the R'lyeh sett. However, I really like the tartan, and would be interested in a kilt if I knew more about its origins/relevance.....(I am a sci-fi geek - but shhhhh, dont tell anyone!)

I actually don't have a preference between the top photo and the weathered version.

Many moons ago in a galaxy named XMTS Artificer developed the concept of a tartan based on C'thulhu. After great work by the master sporran maker, with suggestions from other cultists, the design and colours were born. After more considerable work, with dyes being approved etc and orders being taken, a custome weave was done by D C Dalgliesh. Those that received the honoured fabric subsequently had it made into kilts by a number of artisan kilt makers. If you use the search function I am sure that you can come up with the old threads
