BTW flashes were not traditionally cut out from a piece of woven fabric, but rather were made from wool or silk which was specifically woven or knit to the correct width.
You can still buy flashes like that from many firms in Scotland.
Tartan flashes cut from pieces of woven tartan are a quite recent thing and still don't look "right" to me.
Traditionally flashes were usually scarlet, less often green, regardless of the colours present in the kilt.
What I did was buy a set of adjustable elastic garters that came with four interchangeable sets of knit wool flashes, intended for "shooting socks". Not expensive and I have four colour choices!
Here they are on Ebay. I bought an identical set, but they were a bit less expensive, around $12 with shipping.

I enjoy my ghillie brogues, but only for a formal fuction. I think a simple pair of wing tips works just fine, I think also spice it up a bit and wear grey ones over black or brown during the day.
LOCH SLOY!

So.....
I just found out the wedding is going to be at 6pm. So it will be a bit more formal than I thought. So with the new info, I think a jacket will work fine. Now I just need a jacket

With that in mind I would say look first at Ex Hire Argyle (or Argyll) jacket. You don't need a vest if it's going to be warm as June. You can search and should find some great prices. Ebay for Ex Hire is also a good choice, maybe a little less predicatable but still good.
If you can't find what you need there is still time to order one from the shops on the site. There have been plenty of review here and the sites that say the make great jackets. I'll be pressing to get an Argyll jacket myself a soon as some pressing bills are paid... any a kilt or two are scratched off.
Good luck.

Getting really excited about putting this together. As I stated previously, I've ordered the kilt (5-yard 16-oz wool Campbell Tartan from USA Kilts). I also ordered custom kilt hose from New House Highland. The hose are ancient blue, and the knit top is checked Dark grey with Bottle green. I think the combination is going to look fantastic and I can't wait to see it in person.
I'm considering traditional garter ties in purple - I think it might look really stunning. Especially if my tie has some purple as well. And maybe my shoelaces...
Still hunting the jacket....
To be continued...

I bought a navy jacket.. $209 and requested that it be made with horn buttons instead of silver. It was actually a bit more than that, since I'm a size 52 jacket, but your size will be $209. The jacket is light, perfect for So Cal and it looks like a KILT jacket rather than a sportcoat that's been adapted.....we've talked about this already.
