She can sew on a black ribbon for a crest, and you might even add a rosette if you don't want to use the dragon all the time.
A fine headpiece. Question - The brow part is nice and long which allows the crown to shape well. Do you have a drawstring in the brow part or did your GF manage a perfect felting to size?

She got lucky and it felted down to the perfect size without even making the cut the directions called for, but when she added the band the hat lost its stretch. It was initially too tight, but by snipping the back and resewing the back part of the band she was able to get it bigger again so it fits just right. So, advice to any other balmoral makers, be wary of how you sew the band and what material you use. Grosgrain doesn't stretch, but luckily she was able to get creative and make it fit just right.
