I will be kilted this year, just like last year..
I don't go out and about drinking and whatnot, I do now what I grew up doing....
I wake, get dressed and go to church before breakfast.. it is a holy day after all, after that I help mama make a big meal of roast lamb stew or boiled dinner, colcannon or champ, fresh soda bread, salad, and a few drams of whiskey or pints of my homebrewed Irish red ale.....
Ok, a lot of drams and pints!!
Come to think of it, I'm often kilted, so this day is no different than many other days for me kilt wise, though I admit I usually dress to the nines when I'm heading to church for any holy day, seems fitting to try and look presentable at any rate

My brother has a second part-time gig at a cigar store. It is in some ways like an old British gentlemen's club - overstuffed leather chairs and couches, newspapers and magazines, etc.. For some "Celtic holidays" I go and hang out with him for part of the day, kilted of course. I will do so this coming Saturday.
Our clan traces to Dalriada, a Gaelic kingdom which spanned both northern Ireland and western Scotland, so showing our Scottish pride on St. Paddy's Day has some basis in history.
Unfortunately, it will be too cold to wear my "Pog Mo Thoin, I'm Scottish" tee shirt.

You can wear a kilt in any type of tartan for St. Patrick's Day. He originally came from Scotland after all.

I would wear green with it. Green bonnet, hose, shirt. Have a blast. Send photos if they are not inappropriate.

I'm going kilted the day before. Not too sure if I'll be able to wear it to church, new calling, being held as an example to look up to makes it all the more difficult to do the odd or unusual things. But yeah, the day before meeting up with some friends I haven't seen in a while, likely get picture, so as to prove that it did happen.
I just wish that I had been able to get a Irish theme kilt for the day. Oh well, next your I guess. Get me a nice Saffron, with a shamrock kilt pin. I may not drink like an Irishman but I'll do my best to like like a kilted one.

We have to be very careful on subjects like this, lest we run afoul of board rules. But yes, it's possible that someone could be offended by seeing the Black Watch tartan worn to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. As O'Callaghan mentioned, this is a military tartan, and the Black Watch does have a bit of history in representing the British government's interests during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It's not overly likely that anyone in your area will know or care about the connection, but it is indeed possible that someone could see you wearing that tartan and take the wrong message from it.
