OOOOOOooooooo that sounds fantastic! Sign me up for the top one then - it would fit the original colours better.... I am all for that. Now, as to material...... Hmmm, I would prefer wool, but finances seem to like the MM PV...

Well, my vote would definitely be for the modern....a 4 yard box-pleat or a 8 yard kinguisse would be simply exquisite. So, how can one get in on the ordering when that time comes??

Would the PV be a custom order or would the price be close to USA Kilts $100 economy kilt?

This discussion concerns a length of custom-woven fabric only. You may choose to make your own kilt from it personally,or send the fabric to one of the many reputable kiltmakers represented on this forum, or perhaps to one of the other makers not frequently discussed here.

Basic point is we are not talking about finished kilt, just the fabric. Then it's your choice whether to have it machine-stitched into an "economy" garment, hand-made into an heirloom garment, or anything in between.

Thanks for catching this sydnie7. pbutts this is indeed the case- with the caveat that JUST the fabric for even an economy kilt will probably run you $100. Custom order from Dalgliesh isn't cheap, but it is worth it.

How close are we getting? Any ballpark figures for how much money I should be trying to scrounge up?

I've just been swamped lately. LOADS of sporrans that needed to be done before summer weddings- so this has taken a backseat.

I'm going to post the second installment (who wants how much yardage) and then we'll have a better idea of what it'll finally cost.
If memory serves, last time it ran £21/yd (double width) before shipping and any customs, but keep in mind that we ordered +128 yards d/w!
Also, I believe Dalgliesh has had some pricing adjustments since coming under new ownership.
