I agree with you; the "auld brickwall" on the bus was way out of line and I guess the old saying is true, "it takes one to know one", for he was the pratt!
I have only met a couple of Scots like that; most Scots expats I know here in the states and the Scots I know in Scotland are generally supportive and happy that Americans & others have taken to the kilt so much -- one of my friends from Edinburgh always says that he wears the kilt much more since he moved to St. Louis then he did back home!
I'm like you Rob; the utilikilt, camo kilt, etc. doesn't appeal to me, but to each is own for kilts and religion.
Bear: I would bet that your casual kilts are of a far better quality that some of the so-called "formal" kilts I have seen at various functions over the years.
