I just noticed this:

His Grace is wearing black shoes and a brown sporran.
I... I don't know what to do with that.

As many, many, ..., many folks on the forum will tell you, black shoes with a brown sporran is traditional, Okey Dokey, A-OK, etc. For me that's one less thing to worry about. Whew!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

How about brown or tan shoes with black belt (and sporran), have there been any opinions on that combination? I couldn't do it with a bifurcated garment, mind.

I don't think that is acceptable, or at least not as acceptable, though no one is going to arrest you for it. Just don't do it unless you want to start a new fashion trend.

A telling, well-documented blow struck at the dreaded Kilt Kops!
Brown and black have a long history of being worn together! (And smartly so, in these instances)
Take that(!), Fashion Police.

Nicely done, Robert. I'm sure you read The Scotsman March 29 article "Moles at Culloden are celebrated by historians". Yes?
Please tell your Lady that I loved my Doo-lander this winter

His Grace, has more money that God and Garth Brooks put together..and is authorised the Balmoral tartan...he can pretty much do as he pleases...lol
Really though, I do it all the time..more out of necessity, as I only have one sporran and it is sort of a blood brown. My take is, event though I am wearing a skirt, my shoes do not have to match my purse...lol.
I... I don't know what to do with that.
