I always wear one...with one exception; I do not wear one on my SportKilts when I'm competing in highland games. Instead, I have sewn (or glued) a patch in the corner of the apron. This is simply because I don't want anything to get in the way of the weights or movements during the activities.

The only time I would not wear a kilt pin would be when I was wearing a kilt for something athletic, and that would be rare. Last night I attended a special ceremony at the Alamo in San Antonio honoring the Scots who died there. For a bit of variety, I replaced my usual kilt pin with a Texas themed pin.

I have always worn a kilt pin, and frankly, have never thought not to. Maybe I am lucky, or maybe I am careful, but I have never torn a kilt because of the pin. I have snagged them on other things, but never with the pin.

I never wear a kilt pin. I was told by my father when I was a wee boy that it was superfluous and never really bothered. I have my maternal grandfather's claw pin but it stays in a drawer.

Initially, I didn't wear one often, as all I had were large, hefty bag pins that might be used for securing a small dog outside during a wind storm or some of my military rank pins (Navy CPO Anchor). However, when we were in the process of moving my mother into assisted living, I found an old kilt pin in a collection of jewelry that she had. It is a silver sword that was made by the shop of Robert Allison, with town marks of Edinburgh. Unfortunately, there is no year mark that I can discern.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

I'd like to see that! 73 de AG6RN

I'm refraining form voting, because I don't have an opinion yet. So far my only kilt is a 5.11 TDK without a pin.
