just a note ...
just wanted to say .....
i'm on the Internet everyday. it's my job. i'm a network admin for a regional isp. and like many jobs its a love/hate relationship. i get to talk to routers, web servers, mail servers and ras boxes all day long. my office and i kid you not, is a walk-in closet, 5 feet by 8 feet. the ceiling has florescent lamps which i have removed the bulbs and replaced them with a string of clear Christmas mini-lights wrapped around the ceiling edge and a 60 watt desk lamp.
i've been online since before the Internet, as we know it today, was up an running. it wasn't www rather it was bbs. anyone remember FedWorld? and Wildcat BBS?
anyway, in that time i've been on a lot of newgroups and forums. i must say, that of all of them, i believe i enjoy and appreciate XMTS above all of them. ( including all the geek cisco router tips and tricks groups )
and i'd like to especially send my appreciation to Graham and Hamish for their insight and unwavering support for those of us who may question they're own senses in wearing the kilt. as well, i send appreciation to all the members of XMarks for the support given. i don't believe i've ever met a more honest bunch of folks.
and to Hank, well, he's no doubt the diehard and without his expertise and commitment, Xmarks wouldn't be here.
so thanks and i'm gonna go grab another Guinness before it grabs me!
regards,
ambrose

Dude... nice kudos!
As for the BBS, well, I'm MUCH to young to remember such things. (Okay Hank... you can stop laughing).
As for XMarksTheScot, you're right. It's the best place to be on the "internet". The guys are a blast... the host is pretty lenient... and it's always fun to see whether Grahams post-count will exceed the US war budget in any given month.

Excellent observations Ambrose and
I agree with them completely.
Way to go Hank!
Thanks to all who make XMTS
the most interesting and best on the
internet. 8)

I was just thinking that same thing yesterday Ambrose. I visit another forum, about the Panasonic DVX100 video camera (I know, you can all say a collective "Nerd!" now), and I'm amazed at what people type over there. Someone will post a video, and people will tell the poster that it's not fit to wipe their butts with, and those are some of the nicer comments! :o There's lots of "colorful" talk over there too, and someone had a moving avatar of a woman that flashes you! No Jimmy, I'm not giving you the address.
I appreciate Hank keeping it clean and friendly over here, even if he has to make the tough calls now and then.

Ambrose,
I echo your sentiments! This really is a great place, and you said the greatness of it so well. Thank you.
