"The Highland dress is essentially a 'free' dress, -- that is to say, a man's taste and circumstances must alone be permitted to decide when and where and how he should wear it... I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed." -- The Hon. Stuart Ruaidri Erskine, The Kilt & How to Wear It, 1901.

    from Southern California!!

I will second the rabble's recommendation for USA Kilts Casual line.

My first kilt was a Stillwater Thrifty Kilt (ill-fitting and made of acryllic). Just a few mnths later I ordered one of USAK's Casual Kilts (made-to-measure, made from Polyviscose). My next purchase will be a nice wool kilt.

If I could do it over again I would have just ordered a Casual from USA Kilts and skipped the Stillwater Thrifty.

    Just my tuppence.
