How incredibly sad that people would think in this twisted way. Our prayers for the victims, afflicted in many ways, physically, psychologically and especially for the dead and their families. Rest eternal grant to them with your saints, O Lord, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.

Our First Minister, Alex Salmond, said

"I am sure that the thoughts of the people of Scotland will be with our close friends in Boston as they come to terms with the terrible events unfolding in their city.
"It is clear from the reports and horrific pictures from the scene that a number of people have lost their lives and many more have been injured in what can only be described as cowardly attacks on innocent people simply out enjoying the fun of a marathon on Patriots Day.
"The ties that bind Scotland and the United States are strong and deep. Indeed, only last week, thousands of runners gathered in New York to celebrate this connection by taking part in the tenth annual Scotland Run through Central Park. It is almost unthinkable that such a tragedy could unfold at a similar, family-friendly race event in the United States just days later.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this terrible atrocity."

I'm sure the members of XMTS resident in Scotland echo those words and send our sympathy and condolences to all involved either directly or at a distance.
