I didn't see "Only when I wear a kilt" as an option, but that's when I wear one.

Early on I learned from Ham to have a kilt pin for every kilt - to avoid fabric damage putting them on and taking them off. Its been an extra expense - but another fun addiction. The love of the hunt for something other than the basic sword style kilt pin...using more than one item as a kilt pin.....

I wear a kit pin for black-tie and kilt jacket evenings. During the day at a Highland games, I do not.

I have 4 Kilt pins and will always have one in the Kilt I have on. I never keep the Kilt Pin in my kilt when stored. Only when wearing it.

    Regards

Each of my traditional kilts normally has its own kilt pin permanently attached. The only time I would wear these kilts without their pin is for air travel.
I do not usually wear a kilt pin with a non-trad kilt, (Utilikilt etc.).

Great frustration. There was a vintage sterling officer's kilt pin on ebay this week and I missed it by a couple of dollars. Wasn't bold enough.

I almost never wear them, but I am quite fond of the style and traditonal look they embody.
