Thanks, mate! I'm pretty happy with it. You know, thinking up tweed jacket and waistcoat combinations is almost as exciting as ordering a new kilt! I'm just a tweed fanatic, with or without Highland dress, but especially with
Perhaps even more so but I wouldn't dare mention it around here or there might be a lynching.

So, I have been fooling around with other Kirkton tweeds and satin lining combinations and I decided to replace Option 2 and 4 featured above, with the two revised options below. My thinking is that I would like a nice range of tweed jackets and matching waistcoats in an overall green hue, brown hue, and a grey hue (thinking of the overall hue of the tartan in my Macpherson kilts - not matching here, rather complementing or contrasting).

I think I have achieved the desired results I was looking for. I really like the bold patterns, yet I am also rather fond window pane patterns that have subtle lines of colour throughout the tweed. Don't you just love playing with pattern and colour? It's addicting! Well, being a fine art major (oil-painting and anatomy drawing), it's sort of a given and I have always thoroughly enjoyed colour theory.

Let me know what you think.

In reference to the Revised Tweed/Lining Colour 2, you can see from the photos below (with kind permission of the Lonach Gathering) that Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood (at the 2011 Lonach Highland Games, where Horwood was a VIP guest of actor/comedian Billy Connolly, who is a major patron of Lonach and usually attends every year) is wearing the same tweed and coloured lining, well if not the same, very close! I saw this photo the other day and immediately knew it was a Kirkton tweed. I just knew the pattern that well from perusing through the Kirkton medium weight range from Lovat Mill. I think he looks smashing! The lining really pops and brings out the henna colour in the window pane.

    Cheers,
